Following the Rules of MLA Citation Style and Formatting

The Modern Language Association promotes recent studies of linguistics, literature, and pedagogy. MLA research papers, therefore, are the papers formatted in accordance with MLA citation style. Each scientific paper should have a particular format and citation style and the requirements introduced by MLA citation style should be observed to meet the academic standards.

The main requirements for MLA research papers:

1. The paper should have double-spacing and a 12 pt font.  The name of articles, books, and journals should be presented in italics.
2. The paper should have one-inch margins on all its sides. At the beginning of the paragraph, indented lines should be introduced.
3. Words should be separated with one space only, even there is punctuation mark.
4. A header should contain page numbers in the upper right corner.
5. In case your paper contains endnotes, you should present those in a separate page before a reference list page. The endnotes should be titled as Notes and be located in the center.

Format requirements for the first page of a paper:

1. Unless specifically required, a title page should be introduced.
2. You name, the professor’s name, course and date should be inserted in the upper left of the corner.
3. Quotations marks should be used when making references to other works.
4. Section heading should also be presented to contribute to readability of a document.
